"Coffee is no longer just a drink; its waste has become a source of design inspiration. Our Wastespresso project was crowned with first place at the PAGÇEV Plastic Recycling Awards."

At the RePlast Eurasia Fair held at TÜYAP Istanbul, we proudly received first place in the “Home, Kitchenware & Entertainment” category at the 2nd PAGÇEV Plastic Recycling Awards. This achievement is more than a design or production milestone—it’s a clear reflection of our vision for sustainability and circular design.

Wastespresso: A Design Inspired by Waste

Wastespresso was born from a simple yet powerful idea: transforming coffee industry waste into aesthetic and functional products. By reusing coffee waste, we created a series of household, kitchen, and entertainment items that combine sustainability with practical design. Our goal was to give waste a new life—one that not only reduces environmental impact but also brings beautifully designed pieces into people’s daily routines.

PAGÇEV Awards: A New Era in Sustainable Thinking

The PAGÇEV Plastic Recycling Awards are designed to recognize and promote innovative, eco-conscious practices in Turkey. Winning first prize in our category shows that Wastespresso’s bold approach—merging material innovation with design—resonates with today’s most pressing environmental values. The project stands as an example of how recycled materials can meet modern aesthetics and functionality.

Looking Ahead

This award strengthens our belief in sustainable creation. We see Wastespresso not as a final destination, but as a strong beginning to many future-forward projects. With every item we create, we aim to reimagine waste as potential—not just refuse. More importantly, we hope this recognition inspires other makers, brands, and communities to rethink what design can mean in the age of climate urgency.

We’re honored to share this story on the Factory of Us blog and even more excited to keep pushing boundaries in sustainable design.

Here’s to creating beauty that doesn’t cost the Earth.
